Overview
Sayso ("we", "our", "the app") is a context-aware translation app for Southeast Asian languages. This policy explains what data the app processes and how.
Information you provide
Profile (gender, age, first language) helps tailor pronouns and tone. Translation text, conversation history, custom characters, and saved flashcards are stored on your device. We do not require an account.
Device permissions
Microphone and speech recognition enable voice translation. Photo library access is used only when you choose a custom character avatar. You can deny permissions; related features will be limited.
Third-party services
When an AI API key is configured, translation requests may be sent to Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) or OpenAI (api.openai.com). Requests may include your input text, languages, character context, and profile-derived instructions. We do not sell your data.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers for targeted ads (no ads in the app). Verify before release if analytics are added later.
Retention & deletion
Local data remains until you delete the app or clear app data. Uninstalling removes local storage on your device.
Children
Sayso is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
If you use the app outside your home country, translation content may be processed on servers where the AI provider operates.
Your rights
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, Korean PIPA), you may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we control. Contact us at support@sayso.app.
Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change; continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
